Nirvana - Lounge Act (20th Anniversary of Nevermind)

I can't believe we just hit the 20th Anniversary of Nirvana's "Nevermind."  I feel really old now.

R.E.M - Ages of You

The word is that R.E.M has disbanded today. It's sad news, but like all great bands, there comes a time to call it quits. I can't say enough about how great R.E.M was and it should be noted that they were the first truly successful "indie band." Thanks to Michael, Peter, Mike, and Bill.  The end of the world as we know it?.....probably not, but they will be missed.

The Church - Under The Milky Way

I heard this song while driving home tonight, and it reminded me how great the movie Donnie Darko is.

The soundtrack is perfect for the movie, and The Church song, "Under The Milky Way" is one of the best...

The Red Hot Chili Peppers - Brendan's Death Song

I broke down and bought the latest RHCP album. Guitar-God, John Frusciante left the band in 2009 and was replaced by a young guy named Josh Klinghoffer (my brother Jon and I saw him open for Jane's Addiction at a small club 2 years ago). The Peppers are definitely "adult contemporary" but they still make beautiful music. Brendan's Death Song was written for the late Brendan Mullen, a club owner who gave the Peppers a shot to open for the Bad Brains back in the day.

Ryan Adams - Two

I've been neglecting the blog lately and I feel really guilty for it. How hard is it to select 1 song per day? (hard with a little one and a new job). The new job has been keeping me really busy, but I need to take a few minutes out of each day to post a song.  Here's a beauty of a song called "Two" by Ryan Adams....off of his 2007 release, "Easy Tiger."  My favorite song of his.

M83 - Kim and Jessie

I was into electro pop in the early 2000's, but got bored with the sound. A few years ago, I heard M83 and realized that there were still some great electro bands out there (Depeche Mode being the best).  M83 was founded in 2001 by French musician Anthony Gonzalez and they have a new record coming out mid-October...I may check it out.
