This is the first of many future Wilco entries. Wilco is a band that my wife introduced me to when we first started dating. I had heard of them, but never really listened. Back in her old office, she played me this song and I fell in love with their sound....after falling for her, of course! :)
A daily taste of music to wet your lips and get you to shake your ass. This blog is an alternative to my dream of owning a record store. I'll include songs I love, songs you should hear, and songs that make me cringe. Enjoy!

U2 - Winter
Happy Memorial Day. Me, Maggs and Molly flew to Hot Springs, Arkansas for a family reunion this weekend and I neglected my blog since we were in the boonies. Last night, we had a rough one (2 hr delay, 1.5 hr flight, 3 hr tarmac adventure, 1 hr in baggage claim, and no baggage) and I wanted to dedicate today's post to American Airlines. However, it probably wouldn't be appropriate on a special holiday.
For today, I chose U2's "Winter" from the "Brothers" soundtrack. Enjoy the day!

Black Angels - The Boat Song
The Black Angels hold a special place in my heart for a few reasons other than their hypnotic music. My brothers, Jacob and Jon recently designed gig posters for the band in NYC. They sold ~70 posters and I'm VERY PROUD of them. The Boat Song by the Black Angels (record store day 10in vinyl release).....enjoy!

Built To Spill - Going Against Your Mind
An Indie band that's been around for a long time. My buddy Mark introduced me a few years ago and I really latched on the their sound.
Frank Black - I Burn Today
Going through my ipod and came across Frank Black's 2005 release Honeycomb. This album is his attempt at country and it really works. A completely different feel compared to Frank's Pixies.

The Jam - That's Entertainment
A guilty pleasure of mine....70s/80s punk rock/mod bands. The Jam were an English band who looked a little different from the other punkers at the time. No spiky hair, ripped jeans, baby pins, or leather jackets for these guys. "That's Entertainment" is the first song I heard from this band and the soft vibe hooked me immediately.

The Minutemen - History Lesson Part II
The first song of my daily blog. I debated if I should start big with John Lennon, Elvis, U2 or other singers/bands that everyone knows. However, I want to start this blog with a history lesson into what makes music pure and simple....the idea of DIY. My choice of the day......The Minutemen.
